Peter French

Accompanist

Peter at Aldeburgh

Peter’s love of choirs began in his teens when he played the organ for his church choir in Wolverhampton. He sang with his chapel choir during his time as an undergraduate at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, and played for and directed the Box Singers when he moved to Wiltshire in the 1980s. He also sang with, and occasionally accompanied, Corsham Choral Society, and was the organist at St Christopher’s, Ditteridge for 20 years.

Peter has been involved in musical theatre groups in the North Wilts area for the past 15 years, especially CLOGS (Chippenham) and CAOS (Colerne). He has been MD for several shows in that time, including The Merry Widow, South Pacific, Annie, Guys & Dolls and The Producers for CLOGS, Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof and The Pajama Game for CAOS, and a Schools Les Mis for TAOS in Trowbridge. As well as being the accompanist for CitySound Voices, he plays for the Harmonics choir in Kington Langley, the annual Box Panto, and is also the keyboard player in a functions band called Thumbline.

He is thoroughly enjoying his work with CitySound Voices, and is looking forward to lots more happy music making with the choir.
